A few months after a surprise email, Mitch arrived in Saigon. He and his partner were moving to Japan, stopping over in Saigon, Bangkok, and KL along the way. After a great first night swapping stories about our music scenes over beers, I invited them to my new studio the next day.
The session was incredibly relaxed, and his mix perfectly captured the vibe of the space, effortlessly weaving through all sorts of genres with just the right energy. Mitch has just started his new journey in Japan, so keep an eye out for his sets there!

Mitch
Born in Boorloo (Perth) and now rooted in Naarm (Melbourne), Mitch cuts his path through sound the way a good record does — unhurried, purposeful, and full of surprise. A regular presence at local parties and listening bars, he's built a reputation on a collection that refuses easy categorisation. His mixes tend to begin somewhere deep — dub's stretched-out frequencies, its patience, its space — before drifting through whatever territory the music demands. Afro rhythms, broken beats, modal improvisation, and the slow unravelling of jazz all find their place somewhere in the journey. It's less a genre exercise and more an act of listening out loud. Currently travelling through Japan, Mitch is tracing the cultural threads that have long shaped his musical sensibility — record hunting, absorbing the ritual of the listening bar, and finding new resonance in sounds he thought he already knew.
